Making 8-bit music is a great way to add some extra flair to your project, and it’s not as difficult as you might think! In this article, we will go over the basics of how to make 8-bit music, as well as some tips and tricks.

The first step is to find the right tools. In order to make 8-bit music, you will need software that can create 8-bit sounds. There are a number of different programs that can do this, but the most popular is probably Famitracker. Famitracker is a free program that can be used to create 8-bit music files in the .Fam format.

Once you have Famitracker, you can start creating your music. The basic structure of an 8-bit song is very simple. Each song consists of three basic elements: melody, drums, and bass. The melody is the main part of the song, and the drums and bass provide the backing track.

To create a melody, you simply need to enter the notes into Famitracker. The notes are represented by numbers, and each number corresponds to a specific note. Here is a list of the notes and their corresponding numbers:

1 – C

2 – D

3 – E

4 – F

5 – G

6 – A

7 – B

8 – C

9 – D

10 – E

11 – F

12 – G

13 – A

14 – B

You can enter the notes into Famitracker by clicking on the appropriate number, or you can use the keyboard shortcuts listed below.

C – 1

D – 2

E – 3

F – 4

G – 5

A – 6

B – 7

Once you have entered the melody, you can add the drums and bass. The drums are simple, and can be just a basic beat. The bass is a little more complicated, but can be easily created by using the following steps:

1. Choose a note from the melody.

2. Choose a note one octave below the melody note.

3. Multiply the note value by 3.

4. Subtract 12 from the note value.

5. Convert the number to a hexadecimal number.

For example, if you want to create a bass line for the melody note C, you would choose the note E (3), multiply the note value by 3 (3*3=9), subtract 12 from the note value (9-12=-3), and convert the number to a hexadecimal number (-3 converted to hexadecimal is F).

Once you have created the melody, drums, and bass, you need to save the song in the .Fam format. To do this, open the File menu and choose Export. Then, select Famitracker File and click Export.

Now you can import the song into your project and start enjoying your 8-bit masterpiece!
