Spotify is a music streaming service that allows users to listen to music online or offline. The service has over 40 million songs in its library. In March of 2019, the band The Strokes announced that they were removing their music from Spotify. The band said that they were "not comfortable being on a platform that does not pay artists a fair rate for their music." In May of 2019, Taylor Swift pulled her music from Spotify. Swift said that she was "not willing to contribute my life’s work to an experiment that I don’t feel fairly compensates the writers, producers, artists, and creators of this music." These two examples show that some artists are not comfortable with their music being streamed on Spotify.
