There are a few things that can cause sound to not work when watching YouTube videos. Below are some troubleshooting tips to help resolve the issue.

First, make sure that the volume is turned up on both the computer and the YouTube video. The sound may be muted on the computer, or the video may be at a low volume.

If the volume is turned up and the sound is still not working, try updating the audio driver. Audio drivers are software that allow the computer to interact with hardware components, such as the sound card. To update the audio driver, open the Device Manager and locate the audio driver. Right-click on the audio driver and select Update Driver.

If updating the audio driver does not fix the issue, the sound card itself may be malfunctioning. To determine if the sound card is faulty, open the Device Manager and locate the sound card. Right-click on the sound card and select Properties. In the Properties window, click on the Details tab. Under Property, select Hardware IDs. Look for the line that says Device Descriptor String. This line will list the name of the sound card. If the name of the sound card is not found in the list, the sound card is most likely malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.
