Why isn’t my mac playing sound1 min read
Reading Time: < 1 minutesThere are a few reasons why your Mac may not be playing any sound. The first thing you should check is the volume. Make sure that the volume is turned up and that the mute button is not pressed. If the volume is up and the mute button is not pressed, then there may be a problem with your audio input or output.
To check the audio input, open the Audio MIDI Setup application. If the input is muted, you will see a red dot next to the input. To unmute it, click on the input and select the "Unmute" checkbox.
To check the audio output, open the System Preferences application and click on the "Sound" icon. Under the Output tab, make sure that the correct output device is selected. If it is not, select the correct device and click "OK".
If the audio input and output are both unmuted and the volume is up, then there may be a problem with your audio driver. To troubleshoot this, open the Terminal application and type the following command:
sudo system_profiler SPHardwareDataType | grep -i audio
This will print a list of all the audio devices that are installed on your Mac. If your audio device is not listed, then you may need to install the driver for it. You can find the driver for your audio device on the manufacturer’s website.
